Who am I

Hi! I'm Yue
Born and raised up in Sichuan, China (the hometown of giant panda and hot pot, the hub of Mahjong and tea).

Worked in two newsrooms in Nanjing and Beijing respectively.

Living and working in London now.

Welcome to my personal channel.
With the extensive training and practice of my two master’s degrees obtained in the UK: one MA (Loughborough University), one MSc Distinction (University College London), I see my brain function in two modes: conceptual and concrete, which defines my working style: being creative yet focusing on details in a logical way.

I grew up in a traditional Chinese family with very open-minded and loving parents who encouraged me to see the world, to experience the differences and to embrace the real self. I am proud of my cross-culture experience and identity. The dots of life are lining up to shape who I am, which always bring extra values to what I do. I am very excited to explore more in this path.

Why this website?

As a former news producer and reporter, content and writing are what I crave. Creating good and engaging content in storytelling and logical narratives with a personality is the ultimate goal of my work. With this in mind, constant practice of writing and content creating is essential for the enhancement of my professional skills, which is, in fact, my hobby as well.

The other day, on the flight to Marrakech, I was reading a new issue of Foreign Affairs. The slogan of their subscription advertisement attracted me so deeply. It says that "We don't break the news. We break it down". This style of engaging with news is very appealing to me as I had spent years breaking the news before I took a gap year to finish my second master's degree on international public policy with the initiative to understand news better. In other words, it is my pursuit to be able to see and analyse the whys and hows behind the news in a professional manner. This is why, humbly, I release this site as my starting point to step closer to my goal.

On this platform, I aim to dive into news topics in a more objective and systematic manner with the better understanding of a bigger picture. But occasionally, some light-hearted content would be tempting. Essentially, I believe in the power of data and academics to reveal the logic and reasons behind. I am always amazed by how many interesting findings can be captured through this practice (in whatever subtle way it might be).

To wrap up, let's start with some trials and see how they may work out. Exiting and thank you very much.
